Herschel F. Smith

Herschel Smith was from New Jersey and worked for IBM, upon retiring Herschel moved to Durham, NC in the 80's to be closer to his daughter.  While living in Durham he enjoyed traveling to many checker tournaments in company of Elbert Lowder, Tim Laverty, and Wade Holder.  Herschel later moved to Château Walker - International Checkers Hall Of Fame in Petal, Mississippi.  Herschel owned a large and excellent checker library which remained in ICHOF when he moved to Ames, IA.  Last record of Herschel, I have him in Ames, IA (Story Co.) DOB 12/21/1919 phone: 515-232-4669 which doesn't work.  That would make him 91 in 2010.
